To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the foundation of Brussels’ first academy – the Académie royale et impériale de Bruxelles – by Maria Theresa of Austria in 1772, the Académie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique and the Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie van België voor Wetenschappen en Kunsten have decided to explore together a dozen topics that are of major importance to our societies. From artificial intelligence to education, from science to the arts, from European culture to global health management, from climate to mobility, from energy to cities, from the humanities to democracy, this book provides a wide readership with the results of this joint reflection. Through this publication, the Academies wish to underline the essential role they can play in serving society.
